At it’s worst, it looks, well, something like this…
This 20 seconds worth of mad scramble between QPR and Manchester City in 1993 has been voted the worst passage of football ever by Italian magazine L’Ultimo Uomo.
Footage of the Premier League clash has been doing the rounds on social media, and the short video is footballing ineptitude at its best/worst.
Play begins with a corner on the left. Neither side can get the ball under control and after a few swipes, it falls to a City defender who dribbles back towards his own goal.
He then attempts to feed the goalkeeper a back pass which is all wrong. A QPR attacker latches onto the loose ball and cuts it back.
A lunging tackle appears to save the day but when the stray ball drops to the goalkeeper his clearance rockets point blank into an opponent.
The deflection falls perfectly for a City striker with an open goal but he falls over his feet and dribbles the ball wide when it would have been easier to score.
City went on to win the game 2-1 at Loftus Road. It was a forgettable game…until now.
