AFC Cup wrap: Kelantan thump Da Nang
Malaysian club Kelantan have stormed to the top of the AFC Cup's Group G with a 5-0 thumping of former leaders Da Nang of Vietnam.
Kelantan captain Mohammad Badhri Mohammad Radzi wrapped up Tuesday's big win with an impressive chip from over 30 metres out.
After Da Nang's goalkeeper slid in to clear away from Kelantan's Australian forward Dimitri Petratos, Radzi was first to the loose ball, chipping it with his first touch onto the goal line and into the net.
A six-minute opening burst from Kelantan blew visiting Da Nang away at the Stadium Sultan Mohammad IV in Kota Bharu.
Nigerian striker Dickson Nwakaeme opened the scoring for Kelantan with a curling effort from the edge of the area in the fourth minute and two minutes later he helped set up Indra Putra Mahayuddin for the home team's second goal.
Mohammad Faiz Subri extended Kelantan's lead further in the 23rd minute and the hosts led a shell-shocked Da Nang 3-0 at half-time.
Petratos made it 4-0 just before the hour mark, tapping home Faiz Subri's cut-back, before Radzi's chip ended the scoring.
The victory took Kelantan to seven points from three games in Group G, one ahead of Da Nang, who slipped to second with Maziya (four points) and Ayeyawady United (zero) in third and fourth.
Maziya defeated Ayeyawady United 3-1 in the other Group G fixture.
In India, Churchill Brothers thumped Singapore Armed Forces 3-0 to claim their first victory of this season's AFC Cup, while Group A-leaders Al Kuwait won 3-1 away to Regar-TadAZ of Tajikistan.
In other AFC Cup results, Indonesian club Semen defeated Kitchee of Hong Kong 2-1, while Lebanon's Safa knocked off Al Riffa of Bahrain 1-0 and Jordanian club Al Faisaly triumphed 2-1 over Yemen's Al Sha'ab Ibb.
