Allegri proud of AC Milan
AC Milan head coach Massimiliano Allegri sang the praises of his team after their 2-1 win over Parma on Friday.
A Gabriel Paletta own goal was added to by new signing Mario Balotelli as Milan climbed above Lazio and city rivals Inter and into third place on the table.
That represents a significant turnaround for a club who were really struggling in the early stages of the season and won just four of their first 13 matches.
Allegri was delighted with the team's progression this season and says they deserve their lofty standing on the table.
"I'm certainly happy we have reached third place in the table," Allegri said.
"I'm happy for the guys, for the club and for the supporters. I'm proud to be the coach of this team and to be part of what is going on here.
"I believe that we are a young team and we still need to improve, but tonight I saw that the guys who entered the pitch interpreted the game well and this can only mean we've been improving in certain moments of the game, and we played a very good second half.
"Now we need to face the games we have left with the same spirit. Let's not forget that we were fourth from bottom in the table only two months ago. I think my players deserve our position in the league now."
Balotelli has been an inspired signing so far for Milan, with the former Manchester City forward scoring four goals in his three Serie A games for the club.
And Allegri said he was pleased with the signing of the Italian, saying he was the perfect partner for fellow striker Giampaolo Pazzini.
"The club acted very well in the market, buying a top player like Balotelli in January," he said.
"We needed a player like him, both technically and tactically, we needed someone alongside Pazzini with his characteristics."
AC Milan face Barcelona in their next fixture, with the first leg of the round-of-16 Champions League to be played at the San Siro on Wednesday.
Allegri is sweating on the fitness of Stephan El Shaarawy and Robinho for the clash with both to undergo tests before being selected.
