Efe Ambrose says Celtic are aiming for victory over Benfica as they seek to boost their chances of advancing in the UEFA Champions League.

Scottish Premier League leaders Celtic arrived in Portugal on Monday and are poised for Tuesday's match at the Estadio da Luz with the assurance that all three points would put them on the brink of qualification for the round of 16.

Defender Ambrose said Celtic aim to prove they can compete at the highest level and show their victory over Barcelona on matchday four was no fluke.

"We arrived in Portugal early on Monday. We are ready for Benfica and our mission is to go all out for the three points at stake to brighten our chances of qualification," Ambrose told

"We need to show the world that our victory over Barcelona was not accidental hence our resolution to storm Portugal with the ultimate aim of gaining the entire points and putting Scottish football on the world's map for the right reasons."

The Nigeria defender said he is enjoying life in Glasgow and hopes to continue his good form for club and country.

Celtic are second in Group G on seven points, two back from leaders Barcelona. Benfica meanwhile are third, three points off Celtic, with Spartak a further point back in fourth spot.
