Nicolas Anelka has reportedly walked out of West Bromwich Albion today after just one competitive game with the club.
The striker, who has been officially been granted a leave of absence for this weekend’s fixture against Everton on Saturday on ‘compassionate grounds’ and has been given the next few days off to get his head together after losing a close friend of his, with West Brom more than happy to let the player get his head together during a difficult time.
After walking into the Baggies' training centre on Thursday and clearing his locker, though, speculation has arisen as to the players future at the club and in the game, with supposed sources close to the player saying the Frenchman has decided to leave both the club and the game of football all together.
Anelka arrived at the club under two months ago and started in his side’s opening Premier League game of the season against Southampton, his first fixture in English football since leaving Chelsea for Shangai Shenhua on January the first 2012.
There is still plenty of speculation surrounding the strikers decision with no official statement regarding the players future at the club being made buy West Brom at this time.
