Antonio Di Natale



Antonio Di Natale was born in Naples, Italy on 13 October 1977. Primarily a central striker, he is also able to play on the wing and is known for his technique, goalscoring prowess and creative talents. Due to the fact that his best footballing years came after the age of 30, he is often cited as an example of a late bloomer.

Having joined Empoli as a youth team player, Di Natale graduated to the senior team in 1996, but initially struggled to establish himself in the first team. Three seperate loan spells followed, to Iperzola, Varese and Viareggio, before he returned to Empoli and cemented his place in the starting eleven. His best season with the team came in 2001–02, when he was able to score 18 goals in all competitions. However, the club suffered relegation at the end of the 2003-04...
