Liverpool striker Iago Aspas has been ruled out until December with a thigh injury.
The Spaniard, who has made six appearances for Brendan Rogers' side since joining from Celta Vigo in the close-season, suffered a torn thigh muscle in training on Thursday.
He is set to miss at least five matches, including a trip to Arsenal and the Merseyside derby against Everton at Goodison Park on November 23.
Liverpool announced the news in a statement on their official website on Friday, confirming their expectation that the 26-year-old would be "available for a return by the beginning of December".
They are scheduled to play seven matches that month, kicking off with an away fixture at Hull City.
Rodgers has guided his men to a five wins and a draw from the opening seven games, a run that leaves them joint top with Arsenal.
Next up is a showdown with Newcastle United at St James' Park on Saturday.
