Bayern target domestic double
Bayern Munich head coach Jupp Heynckes says winning the DFB Pokal is part of the club's vision for this season.
The Bavarian giants – who have watched Borussia Dortmund win the Bundesliga for the last two seasons – have effectively wrapped up the league title.
With 11 matches left in the season, they led the second-placed Dortmund by 17 points.
And ahead of a much-anticipated DFB Pokal quarter-final against Dortmund at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday, Heynckes said winning the cup trophy is a priority for the club.
"I think the DFB- Pokal (German Cup) is certainly something completely different from the league matches," Heynckes said.
"First of all, tomorrow the two best German teams of the last few years will face each other, and second, of course you also have a vision ahead of the season, of what you would like to achieve. And for FC Bayern the Pokal surely is a part of that as much as the championship.
"And even if this year we were saying from the beginning, that first of all we want to focus on the German championship, I think we initiated that pretty well, we are a huge step ahead in the league, but I also think we're pretty well prepared for the Pokal fight against Borussia Dortmund tomorrow."
Bayern are undefeated in their two matches against Dortmund this season, having beaten them 2-1 in the German Super Cup.
The league meeting ended in a 1-1 draw at the Allianz Arena in December.
