Cruzeiro jumped to first position in the Brazilian Serie A standings after a 2-0 win at Ponte Preta.

Dede handed Marcelo Oliveira's side the lead on 23 minutes after converting Willian's assist before the points were sewed up by Borges' 72nd-minute strike.

The victory allowed Cruzeiro to leapfrog Botafogo, who were defeated 2-0 by Atletico PR.

Atletico PR's Ederson scored in the 57th and 67th minutes to condemn Botofogo to their first loss in 10 games.

Both sides were reduced to 10 men on 87 minutes but the result was already a formality.

Internacional and Goias fought at an exciting 3-3 draw with both teams going ahead before squandering the chance for victory.

Andres D'Alessandro put Internacional in front on 28 minutes before Goias' Renan Oliveira cancelled it out nine minutes later.

The game remained deadlocked until the 72nd minute when Goias claimed the advantage through William Matheus before Ramon made it 3-1 four minutes later.

But Internacional were not to be denied as they earned a share of the points with strikes to Juan and Leandro Damiao in the 78th and 86th minutes respectively.

Defender Para's eighth-minute goal propelled Gremio to a 1-0 win at Flamengo.

The win means that Gremio retained third position over Atletico PR.

In other results, Santos won 2-0 versus Vitoria, two first-half goals powered Criciuma to a 2-1 win against Coritiba and there was 1-1 draw between Vasco da Gama and Corinthians.

Luis Fabiano opened the scoring as Sao Paulo defeated Fluminense 2-1, Bahia comfortably accounted for Nautico 2-0 and Atletico Mineiro came from behind to overcome Portuguesa 2-1.
