Championship: Millwall 1 Blackburn 2
Albirex Niigata moved to second in the Singapore S.League with a 1-0 win at Balestier Khalsa on Tuesday.
Rovers made it three wins in their past four matches as second-half goals from David Jones and Jordan Rhodes - the latter a penalty - saved them from defeat.
Karleigh Osborne put hosts Millwall up on 14 minutes at The Den, as they looked to secure their own standing in England's second division.
The beaten FA Cup semi-finalists shouldn't have too many concerns of relegation, though, as they not only have a game in hand, but a four-point buffer on the bottom three - with their rivals all having only two matches to overcome them.
But Blackburn began the day just two points above the drop, and desperately needed three points to avoid thoughts of back-to-back relegations.
And when James Henry's floating free-kick was headed back across goal by Mark Beevers to goalscorer Osborne, Rovers were trailing.
But Blackburn were on the end of some much-needed fortune 11 minutes into the second period, as Jones' corner beat both goalkeeper David Forde and Rob Hulse at the near post for a strange equaliser.
Once Blackburn had the scoreboard pressure applied, they took the game by the horns. David Goodwillie had an on-target shot stopped by Forde, before Grant Hanley went on a gut-busting run through Millwall's defence - and the centre-back was tripped in the area by Danny Shittu.
The ref pointed to the spot - and Rhodes tucked away the winner for the visitors from the resultant penalty.
To ensure themselves of their spot in the 24-team league in 2013-14, Millwall require three more points from their final three fixtures against Nottingham Forest (eighth), Crystal Palace (fifth) and Derby County (11th).
Blackburn still technically require two more points, but are virtually safe - with matches against Palace and Birmingham City (10th) to come.
