Chelsea: Is This Their Greatest Ever Premier League Squad?

Chelsea won the Premier League at a canter last season, showing an abundance of consistency and precision that their title rivals direly lacked. They paired a firm, rigid defence with a creative flair on the attack, which ensured that they were incredibly difficult to break down and overcome.
The Blues left Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United continuously playing catch-up, and deservedly earned the club their fourth Premier League trophy, and the third under the management of Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese coach is never one to shy away from talking up the ability of his players (unless he's playing his infamous mind games), and appraised his current crop of players as the envy of every team in the world - a benchmark that those in England and beyond aspire to attain.
But, does the ease in which they cemented their latest reign as champions make this Chelsea team the greatest of the Premier League era. There is a considerable argument that the assembly of talent within the current Chelsea squad is the best brought together. With the ingenuity of Cesc Fabregas pulling the strings in midfield, the guile of Eden Hazard dancing through the opposition defence, and John Terry marshalling a fearsome back line, they are undoubtedly a force to be reckoned with in Europe. Yet, the Chelsea squad of a decade ago, Mourinho's first season in charge of the London club, surged to the title with the highest points tally in the league's history, an indomitable 95.
That is the standard bearer for success not only in Chelsea's history, but of any club that has ever competed in the Premier League. That is therefore the target of the present-day Blues to overcome in order to assert themselves as the ultimate Premier League team. Thus, in order to assess whether these contemporary stars exceed those laying down the gauntlet back in 2005, this article will compare the first eleven of both seasons.
Do those filling the Stamford Bridge dressing room nowadays have the measure of those that achieved greatness in that very stadium ten years prior?
