Didier Drogba was on target as his Shanghai Shenhua side defeated Henan Jianye 2-1 in the Chinese Super League on Friday.
Ex-Chelsea striker Drogba opened the scoring in the 13th minute at Shenhua's Hongkou Stadium, before Zhang Li levelled for the visitors 10 minutes after half-time.
Cao Yunding scored what would prove to be the winner on 71 minutes as Shenhua extended their unbeaten streak to seven matches and moved up to seventh in the standings.
They remain a point behind Tianjin Teda, who were 1-0 winners over Laoning Whowin thanks to Vladimir Jovanovic's 79th-minute penalty.
In Friday's other match, Quingdao Jonoon defeated Guangzhou Evergrande 2-1 after Zheng Long scored the winner in the 85th minute.
