Liverpool's unbeaten run continues in a tight affair at Anfield.

Liverpool have now gone on a 7 game win streak, and you can't help but consider Liverpool as serious contenders of winning the premier league. Steven Gerrard opened the scoring at Anfield through a well executed free kick which flew into the back of the net. Sturridge doubled Liverpools lead quickly after the halftime break in the 48th minute. Sturridge has now scored 20 Premier League goals this season thanks to his curled effort which deflected off of Brown past Mannone. Ki headed Sunderland back into the game in the 76th minute which set up nicely from a neutrals perspective a tense finale.

Liverpool tonight in my opinion displayed some qualities of true champions, none more so than grinding out results and seeing fixtures off. Liverpool will look to continue their great run and keep the pressure on both Man City and Chelsea.

Sunderland displayed character tonight and showed that they will not just simply sit their and protect a two goal loss, and I still believe that Sunderland of all of the 3 teams in the relegation zone has the most realistic chance of staying up, Poyet is a good manager and he will target them important home fixtures to try and gain as much points as possible.
