Preview: Liverpool vs Man Utd, North London Derby and an inner city table topping clash in Moldova!

Approaching the middle of March now, we take a look at some of the possible highlights coming up this weekend in the European Domestic League.....

Premier League

The Premier League returns in full this weekend after last weeks FA Cup Quarter-Finals. On Saturday, current leaders Chelsea travel to Birmingham to play Aston Villa, Man City face a tricky away tie against Hull and there's a big game at the bottom with Sunderland taking on Crystal Palace. It's certainly a Super Sunday this weekend with Liverpool traveling to Old Trafford to play Manchester United and White Hart Lane hosts the North London Derby between Tottenham and Arsenal.

La Liga

In Spain, Real Madrid travel to play an improving Malaga side. Atletico will be hoping to cut the deficit at the top with a home win against Espanyol whilst Barcelona will hope to bounce back after last weeks miserable defeat to Valladolid with a win at home to Osasuna. At the bottom, there's a 6 pointer between Rayo Vallecano and Almeria and Betis will be hoping to transfer their excellent Europa League performance against city rivals Sevilla into 3 points in the league away at Elche. There's a big game on Monday aswell as 4th and 5th face each other - Bilbao will hope to remain in the driving seat for the last Champions League Spot if they can beat Villarreal.

Bundesliga

In Germany, Bayern will have the opportunity to qualify for next seasons Champions League as the face Leverkusen in Munich, this could be decided by 5th place team Wolfsburg who are away at Braunschweig. Also, Dortmund have a home game against freefalling Borussia Monchengladbach, Werder Bremen who are unbeaten in 4 host Stuttgart and Hertha BSC are at home to Hannover.

Serie A

In form Parma will look to put pressure on the 2 teams above them as they face AC Milan away. Leaders Juve are away at Genoa, Torino host Napoli and Udinese face a tough away game against Roma. It's a huge weekend at the bottom with the bottom 4 all facing each other. Sassuolo and Catania - the bottom 2 are up against each other and Bologna travel to Catania.

Ligue 1

Both PSG and Monaco play on the Sunday, PSG are at home to Saint Etienne whilst Monaco travel to play the resurgent Lyon. Elsewhere, 3rd placed Lille have a home game against Nantes, 17th and 18th (Evian and Valenciennes) faceoff and on Friday night, Marseille are away at Reims with both teams eagerly chasing a Europa League Spot.

Portuguesa Liga

Over in Portugal, the game of the weekend will probably be Sporting vs Porto with both teams facing a real battle for the 2nd Champions League spot. The leaders, Benfica don't play until Monday night with an away tie against the vigilant Nacional. Elsewhere, Gil Vicente will be on the prowl for their 3rd straight win if they can beat Rio Ave and 4th placed Estoril host Maritimo.

Eredivisie

With many of the fellow top teams against tricky opposition, Ajax will be hoping to extend the gap at the top with an away tie at NAC Breda, 2nd and 5th take centre stage on Saturday with Vitesse hosting PSV. 2 of the highest scoring teams are against each other with Heerenveen travelling to Feyenoord and bottom of the table NEC Nijmegen host a dilapidated Utrecht.

Russian Premier League

With the Champions Zenit slipping up last week, Lokomotiv Moscow capitalised by moving into 1st position, they're away at Amkar on Sunday. The main game on the Saturday is CSKA Moscow as they host Zenit who  regain top spot for the time being if they win. Of the other teams still in the hunt for a chance of being crowned Champions, Spartak Moscow are at home to Anzhi on Monday and Dynamo Moscow are away at Kuban Krasnodar. On Friday lunchtime at the bottom of the table Ural conquered Terek Grozny 2-1.

Elsewhere in Europe...

The Ukrainian Premier League is set to return after it's lenghty Winter break and delay to the start of the season due to all of the unrest there - Shakhtar are away at Zaporizhya and Tavriya host Dynamo Kyiv.
In Belgium, the infamous Bruges Derby takes place between Cercle Brugge and Club Brugge. Table-toppers Standard Liege travel to relegation favourites Waasland-Beveren. In Turkey, after last weeks crowd trouble Fenerbahce will play Erciyesspor on the Monday with 2nd placed Galatasaray taking on Karabukspor.

Olympiacos will be in search of their first win in 2 games with a home game against Panthrakikos and the Thessaloniki Derby takes place this weekend between Aris and PAOK. This week marks the end of the Regular Israeli season in style with the Tel-Aviv derby between Hapoel and Maccabi playing each other on the Monday night. And finally in Moldova this weekend, high-fliers Sheriff Tiraspol take on their city rivals FC Tiraspol for a chance to move 14 points clear at the top and ahead of 2nd placed Tiraspol. Form certainly favours Sheriff who haven't dropped a single point since mid-October.
