Copa del Rey wrap: Real, Malaga through to last 16
Real Madrid progressed to the last 16 of the Copa del Rey after 7-1 aggregate win over second-division side Alcoyano on Tuesday.
Jose Mourinho's side won the second leg 3-0 at the Bernabeu with Jose Callejon's late brace capping off a hard-fought win.
Real dominated possession for the majority of the match, but found it difficult to break down Alcoyano's brave defence.
The opening goal eventually came midway through the second half when Angel Di Maria swept home from the right-hand side and Callejon bagged himself two goals late on with a neat chip and tidy finish through the goalkeeper's legs.
Luka Modric starred for the home side, who lost defender Raul Albiol to injury in the first half.
Malaga progressed on away goals despite a 1-0 loss at home to Cacereno, who went ahead in the first half through Chapi.
Manuel Pellegrini's side won their first leg 4-3 and escaped despite fielding a weakened line-up.
Real Betis advanced 3-1 on aggregate against Real Vallodolid with a 3-0 home win, while Real Sociedad bowed out to second-division side Cordoba 4-2 after a 2-2 draw in the second leg.
Osasuna knocked out Sporting Gijon 2-1 after a 2-0 win in their second leg and Rayo Vallecano were bundled out 1-0 after their goalkeeper Ruben was sent off in their goalless second leg at home.
