Argentine sides Tigre and Independiente have struggled in the first legs of their Copa Sudamericana quarter-finals on Thursday.
Independiente would have fancied their chances of taking an advantage from their home first leg against Chile's Universidad Catolica, but instead they were held to a 2-2.
Enzo Andia opened the scoring for the visitors at the Estadio Libertadores de America after just three minutes, but Independiente were back on level terms on the stroke of half-time when Cristian Tula scored.
Lucas Villafanez netted 11 minutes into the second half to put the Argentines ahead, but a 70th-minute strike from Nicolas Castillo tied things up ahead of the second leg next Thursday in Santiago.
There was worse news for the other Argentine side left in the competition, with Tigre going down 1-0 in Paraguay to Cerro Porteno.
Roberto Nanni scored the only goal of the game in the second minute in Asuncion to give his side a slender advantage heading into the second leg.
