Costa Rica Primera Division wrap: Herediano extend lead

Herediano extended their lead atop the Costa Rican Primera Division with victory over San Carlos, while Deportivo Saprissa jumped to third.

Marvin Solano's Herediano side registered a 2-0 win courtesy of first-half goals from Cristian Montero and Ismael Gomez against the league's cellar-dwellers on Saturday.

Herediano are four points clear at the summit following Cartagines' 3-2 defeat to Belen Siglo XXI on Sunday.

Deportivo Saprissa leapfrogged Perez Zeledon into third thanks to their narrow 1-0 victory over Carmelita.

Perez Zeledon slipped to fourth, two points adrift of Saprissa, after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Santos de Guapiles on Saturday.

On Sunday, defending champions Alajuelense accounted for Puntarenas 2-0, while Limon edged Uruguay 2-1 at the Estadio Juan Goban.
