Del Bosque satisfied with Spain's Cup opener
Vicente del Bosque said Spain have put themselves in a great position to make the Confederations Cup semi-finals.
The World Cup and European champions were irrepressible as they controlled the game throughout against Uruguay, and following the 2-1 victory, Del Bosque said his side are well placed to continue their quest for a maiden title in the competition.
"They are three great points that place us in the best position to put us in the semi-finals," Del Bosque said.
Liverpool attacker Luis Suarez took some of the shine off of a brilliant display from the Spaniards with a sublime free-kick providing a consolation for the South Americans, but the 62-year-old insisted his team were deserved winners.
"(I am satisfied) not only by the performance of the first half, but also by the second. We played well, although everything was marred by the end.
"We grew very tired in the last minutes. It is normal with the high temperature that we suffer."
Spain top Group B and take on Tahiti at the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro next on Thursday.
