Diego López

Diego López Rodríguez, typically known by the shortened name of Diego López, was born in Paradela, Galicia on 3 November 1981. A Spanish international goalkeeper, he is known for his excellent reflexes, which make him a superb shot stopper, as well as for his impressive concentration levels, which mean he is always alert to danger.

As a youngster, López spent several years playing for local side CD Lugo, before moving to Real Madrid's youth academy as an 18 year old in 2000. Between 2000 and 2005, he competed for Real Madrid's 'C' and 'B' teams, before joining the senior team for the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons. After serving as backup for first choice goalkeeper Iker Casillas during those campaigns, López completed a move to Villarreal in the summer of 2007.
