Do You Fit Into Premier League Fan Survey Profiles?
We all have our own reasons for supporting our teams. It may be demanded by family tradition, by geographic location or perhaps because we simply like the color of the jerseys.
Some clubs undoubtedly attract a more blue collar following. Others draw support down strictly religious lines.
But is the fan in the neighboring stand so different? According to a new UK survey, each club’s support does indeed have telling characteristics that may offer clues to a fan’s Premier League preference.
I begin with a caveat that the YouGov.co.uk survey suggests your average West Ham United fan likes to feast on roast pigeon – hardly your average East London game night take-out. And do Man. United supporters really prefer Victoria Beckham’s music to Michael Jackson?
But some of the findings are intriguing nonetheless.
The pollsters say they included more than 200,000 people in their research, asking each of them which team they supported and followed up by quizzing them about their lifestyles.
If your favorite dish is coq au vin and you read The Economist you might be an Arsenal fan; Manchester United supporters are avid soap watchers, Chelsea diehards like cats and drive Toyotas and Celtic fans will more than likely have the odd Rod Stewart song on their iPhones.
