Downs in search of a third successive win against Ajax
Mamelodi Sundowns will look to bag their third successive win when they host Ajax Cape Town at the Loftus Stadium on Saturday night, kickoff at 20:15.
The Brazilians are off a good win after beating Orlando Pirates 1-0 away from home last Saturday, and another win this coming weekend will see them move six points within leaders Kaizer Chiefs, and still have a game to play to be on level on games with the pacesetters.
The Pretoria-based side are second on the log with 31 points from 16 matches, and they have a tricky match as Ajax Cape Town are also targeting a top eight finish, and they have to start collecting points if they are to achieve that feat. The Urban Warriors are also from a 1-0 win over title contenders Bidvest Wits, and they are now 10th on log with 22 points from 17 matches.
Mamelodi Sundowns spokesman Kabelo Mosito, says the boys showed hunger at the training ground on Thursday, as they prepared for what promises to be thrilling match as both sides produce high scoring match when they meet.
“You can see they boys are hungry. They want it, and they want it badly. The preparation intense, and so should the game also be on Saturday. You could see the concentration on the coach face- the assistant and the head coach want it just as badly. But the coach (Pitso Mosimane) has cautioned the players that they should not put too much pressure on themselves,” Mosito said on the club official website.
He also added that no injury concerns in the squad and the coach will a bunch of players to choose from. “As usual, Pisto Mosimane will be spoilt for choices, and the hard work that all players were putting into their training sessions this week means that they have all declared war.
When they two sides met earlier this season at the Cape Town Stadium, the match was a thriller as it ended 2-2, and the match should have produced a higher score line but both sides were denied by the frame of the goal in a dramatic encounter.
