Athletic Bilbao earned their first win in the Europa League group stage this season against Israeli side Hapoel Kiryat Shmona on Wednesday.
Last year's finalists eased to a 2-0 win in Haifa against the last-placed side in Group I but the result will prove elementary as both sides had already been mathematically ruled out of contention for the last 16.
The game was postponed from last week due to security concerns in the Israeli city.
Bilbao came into the clash with just one point from four group games but went ahead in the 34th minute through Spain international Fernando Llorente.
The La Liga side then made sure of the win with Gaizka Toquero's strike in the 76th minute.
Ligue 1 side Lyon will top the group and have 13 points, Sparta Prague are second with eight points from Bilbao (four) and Hapoel Kiryat Shmona (two).
