Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas has spoken of the importance of building an early advantage over Real Madrid in the battle for La Liga.
Tito Vilanova's men have taken 19 points from their first seven league games and sit joint top with Atletico Madrid.
Barca are a staggering eight points clear of the reigning La Liga champions - something Fabregas is desperate to maintain.
"If somebody had offered us this advantage at the start of the season then we would have signed there and then," he told TV3.
"It's great, and now we have to continue with the same mentality."
Fabregas had been dropped by Vilanova after a string of inconsistent performances at the beginning of the season, but the playmaker insists he is not fazed by criticism.
"You always need to be as calm as possible, be hardworking and disciplined, and the results will come," he said.
The former Arsenal man also had kind words for his team-mate Eric Abidal, who has returned to training after recovering from his liver transplant in April.
"It is spectacular for a person to return after what he has been through," Fabregas said.
"If I had something like that, I would be down for a long time but he takes it with normality, with patience and he is so positive that it is worthy of admiration."
