Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho appears set to join Manchester City after the club reportedly agreed a fee with Shakhtar Donetsk.

The English Premier League giants are still without a manager, with Manuel Pellegrini – expected to take charge – yet to officially be named.

But strengthening of a squad which finished well behind rivals United last season has already started with Spanish winger Jesus Navas also set to sign.

City have reportedly agreed a fee, believed to be in the region of 42 million pounds, for long-term target Fernandinho.

Fernandinho, 28, has previously said he would like to join City because it would improve his chances of making Brazil's squad for the 2014 World Cup.

"They (Brazil team-mates) all wish me to move on," he said.

"They know that the Premier League is a great championship and that Manchester City is a great club, therefore they all wish me to play there, and to participate in the division.

"I believe my chances of making the World Cup squad will improve if I join City. My exposure would be better because Brazil is biased towards the Ukrainian league."

Highly rated Malaga midfielder Isco is also expected to join the Etihad Stadium side, reuniting with Pellegrini.

Real Madrid defender Pepe is reportedly on City's radar with his future with the La Liga giants uncertain.
