Porto coach Paulo Fonseca has declared his side ready to defend their Primeira Liga crown after lifting the Supertaca Candido de Oliveira.
The champions breezed through the traditional curtain-raiser to the new season with a 3-0 victory over Vitoria de Guimaraes on Saturday, as first-half goals from Lica, Jackson Martinez and Lucho Gonzalez handed them an easy win.
And afterwards Fonseca insisted that the performance was the perfect preparation ahead of the start of their league defence.
"It was a very accomplished display from us," he told the club's official website.
"I think we played well. This strengthened our confidence for the season ahead."
Goalscorer Lica reinforced that view, adding: "I am very happy with this win and I will celebrate with my team-mates - although it's too early to talk about the expectations for the season."
Porto will begin their bid for a 28th top-flight title when they open their season with a trip to Vitoria Setubal on August 18.
