About Guizhou Renhe

Guizhou Renhe Football Club was first established as a professional team in 1995, under the name Shanghai Pudong, although that name later changed to Shanghai International. Over the years, the team has relocated on several occasions. First, they moved to Xi'an City in 2006, where they became known as Xi'an Chanba International and then to Guizhou in 2012, where they adopted their current name.

The club began their life at the bottom of the Chinese football pyramid before gaining promotion to the second tier at the conclusion of their very first season. Guizhou Renhe remained in the division for six years, progressively improving their performances and league positions until the 2001 season, where they finished top of the league and were crowned champions. In the process, they gained access to the top flight of Chinese football for the first time.

Aside from their Yi League win in 1995 and their Jia-B League victory in 2001, major national honours have been out of the club's reach so far. The 2003 and 2004 seasons marked their best period of performances in the top flight, with the team finishing in 2nd and 3rd place respectively. The 2003 campaign in particular saw Guizhou Renhe, then known as Shanghai International, competing closely for the title. Eventually, they finished one point behind the winners, Shanghai Shenhua.

In amongst the most notable footballers to have played for Guizhou Renhe are a number of established Chinese national team players, including Sun Jihai, Jiang Jin, Wu Chengying, Zhao Xuri and currently club captain, Qu Bo. Spanish defender Nano and Bosnian international Zlatan Muslimović rank amongst the team's best-known foreign imports.

The club play their home games at the Guiyang Olympic Sports Center. The venue first opened in 2010 and is predominantly used for football matches, although an athletics track surrounds the playing field. The stadium is able to hold a maximum of 52,000 spectators.
