International friendly: Ghana 2 Ivory Coast 1
Jun 13, 2013 10:40 PM GMT
Ivory Coast have suffered a setback in their preparations for Sunday's World Cup qualifier against Tanzania with a 2-1 defeat to Ghana in Accra.
The visitors, who are favourites to book their place at Brazil 2014 on Sunday, looked as if they would prove their status as Africa's highest ranked team with ease when they took the lead after seven minutes through a Romeo Zahoud goal.
Ghana refused to let their home fans down, however, with Ghanaian Premier League player Yakubu Mohamed equalising for the Black Stars in the 14th minute and then delighting the crowd after half-time with the eventual winner.
It was an important hit-out for Ghana as they travel to Maseru to face Lesotho in their World Cup qualifier on Sunday, still trailing leaders Zambia by one point in group D.
