Jacobsen: Copenhagen need at least two players to stop Ronaldo

Copenhagen defender Lars Jacobsen claims opposition sides need to deploy at least two players to mark Cristiano Ronaldo and keep him quiet.

Jacobsen faces the Real Madrid talisman in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday as the Danish champions head to the Bernabeu in what is the first competitive match between the two sides.

Ronaldo's goal tally for this season already stands at nine in eight games, including a hat-trick in the 6-1 win at Galatasaray during matchday one in Group B.

The Portugal international will be confident of extending his purple patch in front of goal against Copenhagen as Jacobsen admits containing the threat Ronaldo possesses is a big ask due to the 28-year-old's outstanding all-round ability.

Jacobsen, who was part of the Copenhagen that drew 1-1 with Juventus a fortnight ago, told Ekstra Bladet: "I do not want to start an argument about who is the best in the world, but to me Cristiano Ronaldo is the most complete.

"Very rarely do I encounter an attacking player who is taller, faster, stronger, better technically and with headers. There’s nothing that I can do to match him.

"That was not only down to me. Nobody can achieve such a task on their own. You need at least two players to stop him, but week after week we see that even that is not enough."
