K-League wrap: Pohang, Bluewings continue to lead way
By Football News
Pohang Steelers stayed on top of the K-League thanks to a 1-0 home victory over Jeju United on Saturday.
The Steelers were forced to wait until the 83rd minute to take the lead, through Lee Myeong-Ju, and they were able to hold on to their advantage until the final whistle, taking their tally of points to 18 after eight matches.
The Suwon Bluewings remain just two points behind the Steelers in second place after their 4-1 thumping of Daejeon Citizen.
Lee Woong-Hee gave Citizen the advantage after just eight minutes, but two quick goals from Jong Tae-Se and a strike from Stevica Ristic on the stroke of half-time put the Bluewings firmly in control at the break.
Jong completed his hat-trick in the 89th minute to seal a comfortable win for the Bluewings.
Incheon United, meanwhile, needed two late goals to secure a 3-1 victory at home against Jeonbuk Motors, a result that saw them climb to third place.
Seoul moved to 10th position thanks to a 4-0 thumping of Daegu, with Mauricio Molina scoring a brace for the home side.
