Kaizer Chiefs captain Itumeleng Khune says his side are ready to face Polokwane City in the first-round of the Telkom Knock-out Cup, this coming Saturday night at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, kick-off at 8pm CAT.
Kaizer Chiefs were beaten by Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 Cup semi-final second leg by rivals Orlando Pirates, and Itumeleng Khune says they cannot afford to lose twice in row. “We are ready for Polokwane City and we have to beat them and make sure we don’t get knocked-out of the cup for the second time in less than two weeks.” Said the goalkeeper
“We respect Polokwane City as a team but we want to redeem ourselves after being crashed of the cup by our neighbours Orlando Pirates.
The South Africa national team number one shot-stopper added that even though they will miss star winger Siphiwe Tshablala through injury, they will have to soldier on and use other capable players in the squad.
“We will miss Siphiwe Tshabalala in the team as he makes the magic for us in the field of play. But this does not worry us as we have other valuable players who can come in and do the job for us in the team.
“We have George Lebese who has been showing good performance when given a chance, so this gives other players in team a chance to show the coach what they are capable of.” Concluded the 26-year old goal-minder
