The Los Angeles Blues is excited to announce its 2013 USL Pro Home Schedule. The Blues will look to improve from last season’s performance and win the championship. Two additional teams have been added, Phoenix FC Wolves and VSI Tampa Bay FC, and will make their debut this season.
The Blues will have its first two home games against both of the newly formed teams. On March 23 the Blues will take on Phoenix FC Wolves, the game should bring a new sense of rivalry between the teams as they try to compete to be the best USL representative from the West. The Blues will host VSI Tampa Bay FC on April 2, coached by former Ipswich Town (English Premier League) player Matt Weston. The VSI Tampa Bay FC should provide a challenge to the Blues quest for the USL Championship.
One of the major highlights from this year’s schedule is the inclusion of the interleague games. The Blues will take on the reserve team of the most successful and decorated team in the MLS franchise, the LA Galaxy on April 7. The LA Galaxy reserve does not need a further introduction; their performance on and off the field speaks for itself. They are the current champions of the MLS Reserve League; they clinched the title by beating Vancouver Whitecaps 6-0. They are a force to be reckoned with and the Blues will not take them very lightly.
The Blues will also take on the current USL Commissioner’s Cup winner, Orlando City on April 10. The Blues have been drawn with a very tough opponent in their first four home games.
14 league home games are scheduled to be played at Titan Stadium, CSU Fullerton. The Blues will also compete in US Open Cup and be involved in International game throughout the season.
