Real Zaragoza and Granada missed a chance to move further away from the relegation zone after a 0-0 draw on Monday.
In a half during which both teams struggled to apply a finishing touch, Granada striker Odion Ighalo sent two chances wide, while Ruben Rochina missed the target twice for hosts Zaragoza.
Ighalo was the closest to breaking the deadlock at Estadio de la Romareda, heading Nolito's cross against the woodwork from six yards out.
Granada goalkeeper Tono was finally tested shortly after half-time, as Rochina let fly a volley from outside the area that was palmed away.
Rochina continued to trouble the Granada defence after the break and again forced a save out of Tono with a long-range effort mid-way through the second period.
Some poor marking from Zaragoza nearly saw Granada take a 75th-minute lead as substitute Diego Buonanotte could not beat Leonardo Franco from Nolito's delivery.
Both defences held up in the final stages and the result leaves Granada (27pts) and Real Zaragoza (26pts) just ahead of 18th-placed Mallorca (24pts).
