Lambert praises Villa effort after Norwich victory

Paul Lambert has praised the commitment of his Aston Villa side following the dramatic late 2-1 win over relegation rivals Norwich.
Two goals from Gabriel Agbonlahor proved to be enough for Villa, with the second coming in the final minute of normal time after a Grant Holt penalty had cancelled out his first.
Lambert was quick to credit the contribution of his side's match-winner, but he believes that an excellent team performance was the real key in ensuring that the visitors clinched all three points.
"Our effort after playing on Monday night [against Sunderland] was outstanding. All credit to the team. We hung on and in the second half it could have been more," he said.
"Gabby Agbonlahor has been playing excellently for us, he has the speed to hurt teams and power as well.
"This team is getting better and better every single game. The best thing will be the mental side of the game and they are playing football that's worthy of staying in this league."
The victory takes Lambert's men to within touching distance of safety as they reached the 40-point mark, although the Scot is keen for his side to maintain the same level of performance in the final two games of the Premier League season in order to finish the job.
He added: "The 40-point mark is a magical one. The players were mentally strong to get over the line.
"We have to keep going but it's another huge, huge win. I know how much effort we put into that game and some of the football was excellent at times."
