Liga Sagres: Benfica 2 Beira-Mar 1
Oct 07, 2012 4:22 AM GMT
Benfica came from behind to defeat strugglers Beira-Mar 2-1 in Liga Sagres on Saturday.
The fixture looked a mismatch on paper, with the table-toppers facing off against the lowest-ranked side in Portugal's top flight.
But Beira-Mar came to play and stunned the 28,000-strong crowd at Estadio da Luz with Frenchman Vincent Sasso's goal after four minutes.
It took a long time for Benfica to draw level but Uruguay defender Maximiliano Pereira netted the equaliser on 58 minutes.
And just two minutes later, Jorge Jesus' side were in front thanks to Spanish forward Rodrigo.
The goal was the fourth of the season for former Real Madrid and Bolton Wanderers attacker and was enough to seal victory for Benfica, who sit three points and goal difference ahead of second-placed Porto.
Beira-Mar remain at the foot of the table with just three points from six matches.
