Loew: Guardiola endorsing Bundesliga
Jan 22, 2013 2:29 AM GMT
Germany coach Joachim Loew has welcomed Pep Guardiola's imminent arrival in the Bundesliga, claiming it is a good sign for German football.
Loew believes Guardiola's decision to ply his trade with Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga 'speaks in favour of the league and Germany football'.
But while the arrival of the former Barcelona manager in Germany has the football world talking, Loew does not believe it is a foregone conclusion that Guardiola will succeed with Bayern Munich.
"I think he is also trying to bring his conception of (Barcelona's) football to Germany and implement it with his team," Loew said.
"He also stands for a clear philosophy which is preached, trained and embodied from the very beginning in Barcelona and whether he will be successful here, something that is expected of him, is yet to be seen.
"But I think that a coach like him coming here speaks in favour of the league and German football."
Guardiola will take charge of Bayern Munich next season, replacing Jupp Heynckes.
Loew hopes Heynckes can go out on a high.
"We must also show our appreciation and respect to Jupp Heynckes, this is often forgotten in the entire discussion, because he is currently playing great football with Bayern in this season and has brought forward the team significantly, and has done a lot for German football in general in the last few years," Loew said.
"That is something we should not forget in this moment and we should show our appreciation for that.
"Of course it is much discussed; it is not that easy for him either, because these discussions are constantly taking place.
"Guardiola is coming but only this summer, so I wish Jupp Heynckes that he achieves his goals with his team this season and that he finishes successfully."
