Ajax Cape Town have confirmed that their striker Lebohang Manyama will join Kaizer Chiefs in the January transfer window after both clubs agreed on the transfer fee on Tuesday.
The 23-year old striker has been a target for South African powerhouses clubs and it is now confirmed by Ajax Cape Town management that Kaizer Chiefs have won his signature
The Soweto giants will be delighted as this will be a good start in their search for new talented players at the club as they prepare their CAF Champions League campaign that is going to commence next year February.
Ajax Cape Town Chairman Ari Efstathiou said, “We have agreed and accepted the offer made by Kaizer Chiefs for Manyama’s services.
“As new management, we indicated at the start of the season that we would like to retain our players so as to build a strong and competitive team.
The Urban Warriors also added that they offered the influential striker and new deal but the player made it clear to them that he wants a new challenge elsewhere. “We offered Manyama a new contract however the player indicated that he would like to make a move and start anew adventure in his life.
“With Manyama’s contract coming to an end in June 2014, we had no alternative but to consider all our options. Kaizer Chiefs tabled an offer that was fair and reasonable.” Efstathiou continued
The newly appointed Chairman concluded by saying the Tembisa born versatile players, who can also play as a winger, will commit himself in the next two remaining matches before he departs for Johannesburg-based club.
“We are absolutely sure that Manyama will play with his heart out in the remaining two home matches against Bloemfontein Celtic and Platinum Stars next week before he leaves the club that launched his career with a flurry of goals.
“We appreciate Lebogang Manyama’s contribution to the success of Ajax Cape Town during his time at Ikamva and we wish him well for his future.”
