Norwich City striker Chris Martin has joined League One outfit Swindon Town on loan until January 5.

The forward, who is a graduate of Norwich's academy, has found himself on the fringes of manager Chris Hughton's first-team squad this season, making just three appearances in the Premier League.

The 24-year-old was sent on loan to Championship side Crystal Palace last season, scoring seven goals in 26 appearances.

Swindon, managed by Paolo Di Canio, currently sit sixth in League One, with first-choice striker Andy Williams only recently retuning to action after a three weeks out with a calf injury.

Charlton midfielder Danny Hollands has also arrived on a similar deal but a proposed move for Sheffield Wednesday hitman Gary Madine has collapsed after a series of delays.

Martin scored 23 goals during Norwich's 2009/10 promotion campaign, including the winner over Swindon at Carrow Road in October.

"I had a good time of it in League One and hopefully I can emulate some of that success here with Swindon, he told his new club's online TV service STFC Player.

"It's been a quick turnaround for the move but I am happy to be here and looking forward to the challenge. It's not a given that I am going to play here though.

"I need to show the manager what I am like in training and hopefully that will impress enough to involve me."
