The Spaniard was well placed at the back post to meet Angel Di Maria’s cross after playing one-two passes with the Argentine winger and timed the ball well before scoring with scissors kick after scoring the opener in the first-half as his brace on the day was enough to hand the Red Devils a 2-1 win over their old rivals.
“Many of you are asking me about the second goal and the truth is I don't know very well how to explain it,” Mata wrote on his weekly blog. "It's something you just don't think (about)... It's more a resource you use when you understand it's better to shoot the ball as it comes rather than trying to control it and keep the play.
The former Chelsea man added that the goal was one of the best in his career and it also helped the team to win as Manchester United continue to fight for a top four finish after finishing in an unacceptable position seven last season.
"Angel's pass invited me to do so. It's one of the best goals of my career for sure, among other things because it happened in such a massive game. And it helped us win."
The 26-year old Mata, who has struggled to cement a place in Louis van Gaal’s team this season, will hope to get a run again when the 20-time English champions welcome struggling Aston Villa on the 4th of April at Old Trafford.
