Messi: Neymar will adapt quickly to Barca
Lionel Messi is tipping Neymar to hit the ground running as a Barcelona player and settle quickly at Camp Nou.
Neymar sealed a move to the La Liga champions in May and the prospect of him playing alongside Messi is an exciting one, especially following the 21-year-old’s recent eye-catching performances at the FIFA Confederations Cup.
The former Santos striker is widely considered to be one of the best young players in world football, with Messi confident his new team-mate with have little trouble acclimatising to his new surroundings.
Messi said of the Brazil international: "He’s an incredible player and he comes from a squad that was full of stars.
"I don’t think he’ll have a problem in adapting and performing as he’s been doing until now.
"I don’t think he’ll have problems out of the pitch. I know him personally and he seems to be a good guy so he won’t have any problems with me or the rest of the players.
"He won’t have trouble adapting in or out of the pitch. I hope he’ll do well on the pitch."
Barcelona scored 115 goals in 38 La Liga games last season to reach 100 points, with Real Madrid finishing 15 points adrift in second.
With Neymar in their ranks, Messi has warned the club’s domestic and European rivals that he expects Barca to be even more ruthless in front of goal.
"He'll add a lot to the squad," said the Argentina international.
"He's great in one-on-one situations.
"Because of our game we create a lot of one-on-one situations and he's very good at that. He'll make a big difference in this regard."
Messi is also happy to share the limelight with Neymar, as he added: "I hope he comes to score a lot of goals for the good of himself and the team which is the most important thing.
"That's what we have to strive for, the good of the team."
