Mourinho: Dortmund clash will not decide my fate
Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has stressed that his future does not hinge on their UEFA Champions League semi-final with Borussia Dortmund.
The Spanish giants go into the second leg at the Bernabeu 4-1 down after a calamitous defeat at the Westfalenstadion.
Madrid sit 11 points behind Barcelona in La Liga with five games to play, meaning elimination on Tuesday would leave the Copa del Rey as their only realistic chance of silverware this season.
That would almost certainly be seen as a failure on Mourinho's part, but the Portuguese insists that the clash with Dortmund will not determine whether he stays in the Spanish capital at the end of the season.
"My future doesn't depend on what happens Tuesday," Mourinho said.
"Will it be my last game? I am only thinking about the match against Dortmund. It's the most important game of the past 10 years for Madrid. My future is not on my mind."
German publication Bild earlier reported that Mourinho had told Dortmund head coach Jurgen Klopp that he was set to return to Chelsea next season – a claim that has since been refuted by Klopp – but Mourinho was quick to deny those suggestions.
He added: "I never told Klopp that I was going to Chelsea."
