Olivier Giroud



Olivier Giroud was born in Chambéry, France on 30 September 1986. A tall and strong centre forward, he is known for his hold up play, heading ability and intelligent movement in the box. Despite being a full international, Giroud is seen as something of a late bloomer in terms of top level football, having played in France's lower divisions until he was approaching his mid-20s and having never represented his country at any youth level.

Giroud started his career with local side Olympique Club de Froges, before joining Grenoble's youth academy in 1999. During the 2005-06 season, he began to play for the reserve team in the country's fifth tier and was prolific at that level, scoring 15 goals in 15 games.
