Nacional Asuncion maintained their stranglehold on Paraguayan football with a resounding 4-1 win at Cerro Porteno on Sunday.

Asuncion were looking to extend their unbeaten streak to nine games and they did thanks to a brace from Julian Benitez and goals from Marcos Riveros and Ramon Cardozo.

After 11 rounds, Asuncion are 11 points clear of nearest rivals Libertad, who claimed a 2-0 win at home to General Diaz.

Elsewhere, Arnulfo Colman scored twice as Deportivo Carapegua beat lowly Rubio 3-2.

Deportivo Capiata condemned cellar-dwellers Sportivo Luqueno to their fourth defeat in five games, claiming a hard-fought 1-0 win.

In other results across the weekend, Sol de America overcame Olimpia 3-2, while Cerro Porteno PF played out a goalless draw with Guarani.
