Peruvian league leaders Sporting Cristal have maintained their three-point gap on Real Garcilaso with a 4-0 thrashing of Jose Galvez.
Real Garcilaso could have joined Sporting Cristal at the top of Peru's Primera Division after they crushed Cesar Vallejo 4-0 but the reigning champions stayed three points clear with their victory over Jose Galvez.
Universitario moved up to third position with a 1-0 win against Union Comercio, joining three other clubs on 21 points, five adrift of Sporting Cristal.
Alianza Lima moved up to 21 points with a 2-2 draw away to Leon de Huanuco, while defeats meant Sport Huancayo and Cesar Vallejo completed the quartet of clubs behind Sporting Cristal and Real Garcilaso.
Sport Huancayo lost 2-1 to Pacifico.
Sporting took the lead in first-half stoppage time on Sunday when Jorge Cazulo lifted the ball over Jose Galvez's defence to Nelhino Quina, who crossed for Hernan Rengifo to tap in.
Cazulo doubled Sporting's lead in the 57th minute and Renzo Revoredo's near-post header made it 3-0 with 19 minutes remaining, while Carlos Lobaton wrapped up the four-goal rout in the 79th minute with a blistering strike.
In other results over the weekend, Inti Gas drew 2-2 with Juan Aurich and Melgar defeated Universidad San Martin 1-0.
