Point pleases Pelligrini
Malaga is currently suffering financial difficulties and is rumoured to be heavily in debt, but manager, Manuel Pellegrini says his side remains focused on playing football and the goalless draw was an excellent result.
"It is always a good result to get something positive in San Mames, being a draw or a victory," he said.
"They are a team who normally create eight or nice chances per game and today they could not get near out goal.
"However we did not play well today, we had problems with keeping possession, we lost the ball too often, but we had the concentration to avoid the threat of Bilbao, so I think a 0-0 draw is quite fair.
"Today, both myself and the players were only concerned about the sporting aspect, not the financial.
"We are in permanent touch with the owners, so it is a topic which we will analyse in private inside the club.
"I was focused this afternoon on beating a good squad like Bilbao are.
"We got a point and I think that this is important."
The Chilean coach also revealed that an injury to Jeremy Toulalan is likely to sideline the midfielder for two to three weeks.
