Reghecampf talks up Chelsea, Mourinho
Oct 01, 2013 4:25 AM GMT
Steaua Bucharest head coach Laurentu Reghecampf has declared Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho to be the 'best' in world football.
Speaking ahead of his side's UEFA Champions League match against Chelsea, Reghecampf labelled the London-based English Premier League club 'one of the favourites to win' the competition, while the 38-year-old Romanian also reserved special praise for Mourinho.
Mourinho's return to Stamford Bridge after stints with Inter Milan and Real Madrid has been tougher than initially expected with the Portuguese manager overseeing a loss to Basel in the Champions League's opening matchday, while Chelsea have won just three of their opening six Premier League fixtures.
But Reghecampf remains a big fan.
"We (Steaua) are playing against one of the favourites to win the Champions League," Reghecampf said on Monday.
"A team we played against last year in the Europa League.
"Now they are back with Jose Mourinho as their coach: the best in the world, in my opinion."
Steaua started their group stage involvement with a 3-0 loss away to Schalke and while Reghecampf wants to win, he says his team will be less adventurous against Chelsea.
Both Chelsea and Steaua have yet to pick up a point in this season's Champions League after the former were stunned 2-1 by Basel on matchday one.
"Our next opponents are better than Schalke, so it won't be enough to play as well as we did in the first 60 minutes in Gelsenkirchen," Reghecampf said.
"We will play differently this time.
"We will look to rein in their main players, be very organised, not leave space and play to our strengths."
