Spartak Moscow were the big winners in Sunday's Russian Premier League action, as the top three teams all failed to win.
Spartak move up to fourth after a 2-0 win over rock bottom Alaniya, with the goals coming from Sergey Bryzgalov and Jano Ananidze, while CSKA Moscow, Zenit Saint Petersburg and Anzhi Makhachkala dropped points.
Leaders CSKA were beaten 3-0 away at Rostov, with goals from Dmitriy Poloz, Guelor Kanga and Timofei Kalachev, while second-placed Zenit could only draw 0-0 with Amkar Perm at the Zvezda Stadium.
Anzhi were beaten 1-0 by Kuban Krasnodar through a 23-minute Ivelin Popov goal, but Kuban fell a place to fifth, level on points with Spartak.
Rubin Kazan remain in sixth place after beating Krasnodar 2-0, with goals coming from Roman Eremenko and Bibras Natcho.
Mordovia Saransk remain in danger of relegation as they suffered their 20th defeat of the season away at Lokomotiv Moscow.
Goals from Aleksander Samedov and Dame N'Doye put the home side well in control and an Andrey Pazin strike in the 90th minute proved to be a mere consolation for the visitors, with defeat leaving Mordovia eight points adrift of Krylya Sovetov.
Sovetov were hammered 4-1 by Terek Grozny at the Stadion Metallurg, with Luis Caballero scoring the only goal for the visitors after 49 minutes.
Seventh-placed Grozny outclassed their visitors with goals from Aleksandre Amisulashvili, Benoit Angbwe, Antonio Ferreira and Kanu ensuring they stay within touching distance of the UEFA Europa League places.
Both Dynamo Moscow and Volga dropped down the league standings as they could only muster a 0-0 draw at the Arena Khimki.
