Zdenek Zeman is not bitter about his dismissal as Roma coach following last week's 4-2 loss at home to Cagliari.
Roma had been on a poor run of form since the start of 2013, and they saw fit to sack the 65-year-old, cuing mass protests against the board.
And the former Lazio boss has denied that rumours of a rift in the dressing room, but took time to thank fans for their show of affection towards him.
"I do not feel abandoned by the players and the team never played against me," he told reporters.
"I am not happy about being sacked, that's for sure – but I've spoken with (captain Francesco) Totti and the board. It's nice to see the affection from the fans – I didn't expect it."
Roma are eighth in Serie A, nine points behind city-rivals Lazio, who occupy the final Champions League place.
