Samir Handanovič



Samir Handanović was born in Ljubljana, SFR Yugoslavia on 14 July 1984. A Slovenian international goalkeeper, he is known for his agility and reflexes and has been nicknamed 'Spiderman' by supporters. Handanović is also considered a penalty specialist and he currently holds the record for most penalty saves during a single Serie A season, after saving six spot kicks in 2010-11.

After beginning his career in his home country with Domžale, during which time he also enjoyed a loan spell with Zagorje, Handanović completed a move to Italy in 2004, joining Udinese. After playing three matches during the 2004–05 campaign, at the age of just 20, he was sent on loan to both Treviso and Lazio for the 2005–06 season.
