22 Dec, 2012 6:03 PM GMT
Inter Milan were held to a 1-1 draw by struggling Genoa on Saturday as their Serie A title ambitions took a further hit on Saturday.
Genoa withheld the early pressure and frustrated their hosts before going in front through Ciro Immobile in the 77th minute.
Esteban Cambiasso rewarded Inter for their efforts when he headed in an 85th-minute equaliser but it proved to be points dropped for the dominant hosts as they reduced the margin to leaders Juventus to only nine points.
Substitute Marko Livaja missed a glorious chance late on to win it for Inter, hitting his strike against the post from right in front from Diego Milito's cut back.
Lazio and Fiorentina moved ahead of Inter as a result after they both secured wins on the road.
Lazio moved up to second courtesy of a 1-0 win over Sampdoria with Brazilian Hernanes scoring the only goal.
Fiorentina brushed aside Palermo 3-0 to move level on points with Inter but ahead on goal difference.
Montenegrin star Stevan Jovetic bagged a double for Fiorentina and Gonzalo Rodriguez added a late penalty.
Napoli left it late but were good enough to defeat 10-man Siena 2-0 through Christian Maggio's 86th-minute strike and Edison Cavani's stoppage-time penalty.
Parma came from behind to defeat Bologna 2-1 and Torino moved further clear of the relegation zone with a 2-0 victory over Chievo.
Atalanta and Udinese settled for a 1-1 draw with neither side able to break the deadlock in the second half.
