Simeone rages at wasteful Atletico
Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone blasted his players' finishing after they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Real Sociedad in La Liga on Sunday.
Xabi Prieto's strike early in the second half was enough to get Sociedad over the line and see Atletico lose second place on the table to cross-town rivals Real Madrid.
Simeone was not afraid to show his disappointment after the game, blaming a lack of quality in the attack for the defeat.
"They didn't create any major chances and we had so many chances to score, but in football you have to be effective and they took advantage when they had a chance," the Argentine said.
"We failed to take any chances and I am disappointed with the players.
"We tried hard to get at least a draw but we were unable to do so. I won't criticise the players for their willing and efforts throughout but we didn't have the capacity to finish the chances and this is ultimately what cost us the game tonight.
"I felt the same feeling in this game and in the Rubin Kazan game. If we compare the two games we had ideas in both but failed to take are chances and were lacking in ideas.
"This is costing us points at the moment."
